At the July 15, 2019 Regular Board meeting, the White Bear Lake Area School Board approved the contract of Steve Asper as the Director of Technology and Innovation.

Asper has served as the district’s Technology Support Member since 2013. He has been involved in district initiatives such as strategic planning, facilities planning and the district’s K-12 Chromebook 1:1 initiative. Prior to working in the district, he served in technology-related roles at St. Paul Public Schools and Frost Lake Magnet School. He was a third grade teacher at L’Etoile du Nord French Immersion School and also led academic programs at Concordia Language Villages.

In addition to his educational leadership, Asper is also active in two international non-profit organizations. He is president and co-founder of Konekte Haiti and chief information officer of Kozefo, both of which support schools in Haiti.

“Steve’s passion for serving our students and his proven ability to develop meaningful relationships with colleagues throughout the district is evident in all he does,” said Superintendent Dr. Wayne Kazmierczak. “It will be exciting to see him lead a team that continues to bring White Bear Lake Area Schools to the forefront in technology and innovation.”
