In general, students should stay home until they have been fever, vomit, and diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of medication. For more information or information related to specific conditions, please review the handout linked below.

Use the document below to see which vaccines are required for your child to enroll in K-12 school in Minnesota and to document medical and non-medical exemptions. Please note that medical exemptions require the signature of a health care practitioner and a non-medical exemption requires a notarized signature.

Some students may require medication to be given during the school day. In White Bear Lake Area Schools, medication is typically administered by the Health Assistant or Licensed School Nurse in the school Health Office. Medication must be provided to school by a parent/guardian in its original, labeled container.

If your child has a health condition that school staff should be aware of, please let your Licensed School Nurse know.

Some children have conditions, such as severe allergies, seizure disorders, or diabetes, that may require a special plan to be in place at school. If you believe your child needs a plan, please contact your Licensed School Nurse.

Students routinely have their hearing and vision screened at school. If further testing is recommended after the screening, you will be notified by the Licensed School Nurse or Health Assistant. If you would like to opt-out of screenings, please let your Licensed School Nurse know.

If you have any concerns about your child’s hearing or vision, you can request a screening at any time. Please contact your Licensed School Nurse to request the screening.
